Thermal Stone Therapy
Thermal stone therapy is the application of warmed and cooled rocks, combined with massage, providing a deeply relaxing, therapeutic experience.
As a contemporary therapy stone massage was introduced in 1993, although the therapeutic use of stones and rocks has been around for thousands of years in various forms. What is different in modern stone massage is that it uses many different modalities, which have endured thousands of years, including massage techniques, thermotherapy, vibrational energetic bodywork and aromatherapy.
Stones possess many gepmagnetic properties after they have been embedded in the earth for eons. The stones are imprinted with positive and negative polarity, and can contain high ore content. These ores, such as iron and copper, have their own healing properties, as well as holding heat over a long period of time, making them very durable as heat providing agents.
The stones we use are igneous rocks, generally basalt, which are igneous and a product of volcanic action. It is very dense and hard, and has been washed along sea shores and river beds for thousands of years, naturally tumbled to a smooth finish. Our stones have been selected from Saltburn beach; we believe that these stones contain more negative ions than those which have been mechanically tumbled, increasing their potentiality to be healing stones.
